How To Create Business Cards For Your Etsy Shop: On A Budget

Marketing your Etsy shop and branding your Etsy shop name is important but do you need a business card? Can I afford a business card if I’m on a budget?

The old fashion paper card is the fastest and easiest way to share contact information about your shop. The business card is still the PERFECT way to brand your company and keep your customers coming back for more.

Cost

Do you need to break the bank getting business cards? No. With companies like Vista Print and Staples getting inexpensive cards is a snap. I ordered 100 custom business cards for under $20.

What Etsy Information Do I Add To My Card?

I’ve seen business cards crammed with information with not a white spot to been seen. I have also seen some cards with just a web address listed. There are so many designs to choose from but what exactly do you need on your business card? Here is a good list to start your business card design.

Your Shop Name:

Always be sure to include your shop name clearly, in large print for readers to see. You have two options here:

  • Add your registered shop name to the card typed out clearly.
  • Include your shop name incorporated into a shop logo.

Your Website address:

This is the address where a person can go directly to your Etsy shop. You want traffic to your shop so this is the most important piece of information on your business card. Make sure your Etsy web address is bolded or stands out. (You will learn more below on how to determine your exact URL shop web address.)

Social Media:

You should include your social media profiles on your business card. But no all of them. You do not want to overwhelm your readers with your presence. Have you ever looked at a business card and it was so busy you did not know where to look first? Keeping the card simple is the way to go. Choose the channel you are most active in and add it to your business card.

What Is My Etsy Shop Web Address?

As we noted above the most important piece of information on your card is your Etsy shop web address. SO….what exactly is my web address for my shop? I was amazed Etsy did not send me some kind of notification on your exactly URL web address for my shop. Honestly, I did not know my shop web address until I needed to create my business cards.

The formula is simple. The name of my Etsy shop is Home By Liv. There are two ways to create a web addresses. Use either of these URL address to bring someone directly to your shop and into Etsy. Take a look at these two web addresses:

When I created my business cards I found the second web address above to be the easiest and shortest text. I find it looks best on my cards. Simply replace my shop name with your shop name in the addresses above and your set.

How To Create Your Logo For Free

Are you new to graphic design? I would highly suggest an application called Canva. They have some great logo templates you can play with and make your graphic shine with just a few clicks.

Canva has both free and paid versions. When you sign up for the first time you do get the free version. They have a paid version (canva pro) which offers more extensive design. However, for the purposes of creating your logo the free version will serve your purpose. They have many business card templates you can click and update.

Canva is an easy to use drag and drop platform so you can customize your logo in just a few clicks.

Hire A Fiverr Logo Designer For Under $15

Do you need to hire someone to create your Etsy shop logo? Answer these two questions to find out.

What if you have no interest in creating your own design?

What if you do not want to invest the time into playing with graphics on your computer?

QUESTIONS

If you answer “yes that’s me” to either (or both) of these questions it’s really ok. We have a solution: Contract it out to Fiverr. It sounds expensive but it just might be in your price range.

Fiverr is the world’s largest marketplace for digital services. Fiverr enables you to browse the selection of freelancers offering services, and to place orders in just one click. A service offered on Fiverr is called a Gig.

You can pay from $5 all the way up to $5000 for a designer to create a logo for your Etsy Shop. If you scroll to the top of this page you will see the logo I purchased through fiverr. A few notes on my Fiverr experience.

  • It was fast. I had my design in 3 days.
  • The price included a few edits. ( see the ponytail on the girl- the original graphic was a dude. I needed girl power)
  • Communication was excellent.
  • The end product was high quality.
  • If you want to pay a little bit more most Fiverr contractors offer a media package for your logo. This will include an Instagram and Facebook graphic of your logo.

Can You Use The Etsy Logo on your Business Card?

The famous Etsy logo is easily accessible on the internet. I have seen some Esty sellers with the Orange Etsy logo on their cards. When I created my business card I had to wonder am I allowed to use this Etsy logo on my business card? The short answer is NO.

Here is a snippet from the Esty article on Trademark Policy- Example.

Business Cards, Promotional Items, and Advertisements:

“You may write your Etsy URL (for example, http://yourname.etsy.com) on a business card, promotional item or advertisement in a way that doesn’t improperly suggest that you work for Etsy, Inc.

You may not make a business card, promotional item, or advertisement that uses the Etsy Marks, stylizations, or colors so that it will likely confuse the public as to your relationship with Etsy, if any. Please do not use the Etsy logo on your business cards.”

In conclusion

Business cards are all about marketing and branding.

Your card allows your customer to have all the information they need to not only refer you to their friends but to come back to your shop . I love having my business cards. I truly think you can get them on a small budget and get that bang for your buck when it comes to getting your Etsy shop on the map.
